Job Description

To ensure all day-to-day financial administrative duties are fulfilled, financial ledgers are updated with integrity and in a timely manner, and all office based administration tasks are undertaken in a structured and simple manner.

  • Enter and maintain the company’s financial ledger (Merlin) with all transactions (purchase invoicing, sales invoicing with limited sales ledger management, fixed asset additions, cash banking and processing, month end reconciliations)
  • Day to day banking of all cash / cheques entering in the business and all payments going out of the business, as well as responsibility for company petty cash usage and reconciliation.
  • Quarterly VAT returns using financial ledgers.
  • To run from start to finish period end management accounts (including all accounting for all manufacturing costs, establishment costs, overhead costs, fixed assets, depreciation, stock and finance). Including presenting results to senior management.
  • To assist with budgetary projections, control and monitoring.
  • Regular product costing
  • Investment appraisals
  • Responsible for shop stock take and variance investigation and explanation
  • Reporting on other income streams when required (brewery shop sales/profit/market stall sales/profit/Brewery bar sales/profit)
  • Balance sheet reconciliation/funds flow.
  • Record and analyse new product installations across various retail outlets.
  • Liaise with audit team to ensure all applicable controls are exhibited.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Financial Controller.
  • General administration including answering incoming calls, liaising with customers on the telephone (including some sales calls) and maintaining a well-organized, structured support function.
  • Ensuring all tasks are completed on time to comply with internal targets, customer and supplier standards.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Finance Director including marketing and company promotion and any adhoc events which are entered into by the business.

Hours of Work:

  • 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The company seeks a highly committed, extremely organized and thorough individual with a wide range of skills, who is able to adapt quickly and without fuss to the fast-moving environment of a small business.

The candidate should be a self-starter, able to work under limited supervision, and should be someone who takes ownership of issues and sees them through to completion with a minimum of fuss. Be able to help introduce new procedures with the help of colleagues and have a flexible approach to work situations.

A strong knowledge of IT systems including practical knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word would be preferable.

  • AAT qualified
  • IT literacy to a competent level – Essential including Advanced Excel skills
  • An understanding of manufacturing accounting and / or the requirements of a fast-growing business
  • Dealing with non-finance individuals on a day-to-day basis and taking ownership of any financial issues which may arise
  • Experience of fast-moving consumer goods environment (start to finish accounting covering all aspects)
