Job Description
Purpose of the Role:
- Grow, manage, co-ordinate and maintain high quality, profitable and cost-effective business relationships across Personal Lines Distribution, both with Group and 3rd Party relationships
- Produces, drives and owns strategic budget plan to ensure delivery of required business targets
- Ensure that all business relationships are managed to promote Geo/Midas Underwriting and stimulate confidence in the services we provide in the intermediary, Personal Lines sector
- Support the achievement of the Geo Personal Lines Business Plan by ensuring the performance of your panel of intermediaries
- To use your proven leadership and coaching skills to mentor Business Development Managers and other members of the business where appropriate.
- Enhance and grow the Geo/Midas brand image and support intermediary marketing programmes by the innovative and creative use of marketing communication tools and techniques.
- ‘Win’ and develop new intermediary accounts, build existing and identify new business opportunities
- Help to identify additional distribution opportunities with existing and new products across SWH trading platforms nationally
- Accountable for the identification, quoting, onboarding and finalisation of business.
Key Role Accountabilities:
Financial, Commercial & Business Management
- Ensure revenue growth, retention and profit through active account management.
- Accurate and timely delivery of sourced new opportunities and projects.
- Monitor competitor actions and nurture ideas for development providing supporting financial rationale as required.
- Propose and/or contribute to the design and development of product and point of sale documentation and ensure quality of all intermediary literature.
- Introduce and promote understanding and enthusiasm for the emerging Geo/Midas brand in the intermediary sector.
- Add value to the intermediary’s business by being a ‘Business Consultant’ and understand how intermediaries think and the pressures they face.
- A pivotal role in ensuring that Geo/Midas develops a reputation as an Insurer Partner of first choice.
- Take the lead on large corporate presentations and broker wide engagement sessions.
- Collects and manages market feedback and business intelligence as required by the business to inform market decisions.
Intermediary Management
- Develop intermediary relationships with the key intermediary decision makers at a tactical and strategic level.
- Understand intermediary/end customer service requirements and agree delivery of these as required with Underwriting and Operations.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with intermediaries to increase confidence and reinforce a ‘partnership’ approach.
- Ensure focus is always maintained in understanding the changing needs of the intermediaries and their customers.
- Make recommendations for the continual improvement of intermediary products and services which will generate added value in the intermediary market.
Service Management
- Provide an all-round ‘first class’ service to intermediaries and make service an integral part of a partnership approach to all our intermediary relationships.
- Lead in developing a culture of continuous improvement to ensure service ‘leadership’ in the market.
- Propose and contribute to the design and development of improvement initiatives for both trading and service.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the intermediary’s brand, business strategy and direction.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A strong understanding of marketing disciplines/approaches
- An awareness of market industry trends together with the key players
- Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to develop and exploit business relationships
- Live the brand values and be a key ambassador for our business, products and services
- Ability to identify, maintain and grow a large broker network
- Able to work autonomously and within the team as required
- Willing to travel nationwide to support new business and maintain existing lines.
- Exceptionally self-driven and able to work on own initiative and drive the elements required to deliver the business plan.
- Creative problem solver who can identify and provide solutions to customer’s demands.
Qualifications, skills & Experience:
- A minimum 5 years’ general insurance experience.
- Track record of expanding distribution networks.
- Skilled negotiator and builder of strong and successful business relationships.
- Results orientated achiever with a proven track record in building and driving the required sales results.
- Highly commercial attitude and understanding of the drivers of volumes and profit within the business.
- Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills.
- Broad business knowledge and understanding of consumer insurance behaviour.
- A good knowledge of the intermediary market dynamics with an ability to devise and deliver innovative and creative cost-effective solutions.
- Promoting positive and engaged relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the Intermediaries market with strong contacts within it.
