About Us

Founded in 2016 by Leo and Lily (Also founders of Eat Work Art, The Well Garden and Tiny Wilds), Beden is a 220 acre alternative country estate, based on the edge of Dartmoor (4 miles west of Tavistock). It is a rewilding, regenerative agriculture and community initiative, run on a not-for-profit basis. We rent out restored properties on the estate to like-minded individuals, while keeping the level of human impact on the land to a minimum. The Beden community is integral to the funding of the project, but has been designed to work in harmony with the surroundings. https://www.beden.co.uk/ Work is underway to develop a small-scale, low impact ecotourism arm of the business, allowing us to welcome people to the land to enjoy workshops and retreats. Tiny Wilds, our small outdoor school, was launched last year for ‘Beden’ children and the surrounding community. Similarly designed to a forest school, Tiny Wilds provides children with a wild place to learn very much in tune with nature. https://www.tinywilds.co.uk/ All of the above works are conducted around our conservation efforts, with the land managed to maintain, protect and revive biodiverse habitats, with a small amount of land gardened and farmed. We have a small team, split between agricultural, gardening, retreat, teaching and housekeeping staff.
