University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is the largest teaching hospital in the South West peninsula, providing comprehensive secondary and tertiary healthcare. With a turnover of over £500 million, the Trust became a teaching hospital with the opening of the Peninsula Medical School, a joint venture with the Universities of Plymouth and Exeter and has an active commitment to developing and supporting all their 8,500 staff. The Trust has a secondary care catchment population of 450,000 with a wider peninsula population of almost 2,000,000 people who can access all specialist services. Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS at Risk staff throughout Devon who is able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification. The Government had passed legislation requiring vaccination as a condition of deployment which was due to come into place from 1st April 2022. However, on 31st January 2022, the Secretary of State announced that this is being revoked. The government has since announced that it will bring forward the regulations to revoke vaccination as a condition of deployment. The revocation of the regulations will come into force on 15th March 2022 and this means that there will now be no legal requirement for staff to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 from 1st April 2022. Whilst this is no longer a condition of employment, UHP NHS Trust strongly recommend that you are vaccinated against Covid-19 and full vaccination remains the best line of defence in order to protect yourself, your colleagues and your family.
